Freeze drying is a multi-disciplinary field which starts with basic aspects of chemistry and biochemistry during formulation development and ends with engineering principles during scale up and manufacturing. Awareness of the physicochemical properties of materials (i.e. amorphous vs. crystalline) is a crucial link between "formulation" and "process".
Other aspects, such as primary packaging materials (type of container system), heavily impact process design and optimization principles, or product stability during storage. In short, freeze drying product development requires a 360° perspective and a sound knowledge of freeze drying fundamentals of the related disciplines.
Different degree courses at Universities only lecture bits and pieces of a topic without providing a "full" picture. In contrast, the demand for training and education in freeze drying and related drying technologies will grow in the next decades, and is already part of different industrial and regulatory roadmaps.
Gilyos has established its own, very comprehensive training program over the past years to share our expertise and long-term experience with you. Due to the nature of the program, we gave it the following name:

Lyoscopedia® is not standardized. Typically, it combines a mixture of academic lecture, practical examples, and (if applicable) hands on training, based on our customer`s needs and desires. We cover all levels of expertise, i.e. from beginner courses to focused expert seminars. Typical seminars range from half a day up to two days full time.
