By Plane

From Frankfurt airport (FRA) you can either take an ICE/EC (departure every hour) from the “Fernbahnhof” (Long Distance Station) directly to Würzburg. Alternatively, from Nuremberg airport (NUE) by rental car or train to Würzburg.

By train

Würzburg is reachable by several ICE train lines. You can travel (at hourly intervals) to and from Frankfurt, Kassel, Hannover, Nuremberg, Munich, Cologne and Berlin. From the main station in Würzburg you can reach Friedrich-Bergius-Ring by taxi within ca. 15 minutes. You might also use the bus (number 26) to “Wöllriederhof/Pilziggrund”. Exit “Sandäcker”, the BioMed-Zentrum is only a few minutes walk away.

By car

A3 (Cologne/Frankfurt – Nuremberg/Passau)
Leave the highway A3 at the exit „Rottendorf, Würzburg-Ost“ (No. 72), follow signs to „Würzburg“ onto B8. Take the exit Lengfeld, Würzburg-Ost“, turn right at the traffic light towards „Würzburg-Ost“ onto Nürnberger Straße, follow Nürnberger Straße and turn left onto Friedrich-Bergius-Ring. BioMed-Zentrum is to your left at Friedrich-Bergius-Ring 15. GILYOS is situated to your left, entrance B.

A7 (Ulm – Kassel/Hanover)
Leave the highway A7 at the exit „Estenfeld“, follow signs to „Würzburg“ onto B19. Use the right lane at Greinbergknoten (at the yellow “Würzburg” sign), turn left onto B8 at the big crossing, take the exit „Gewerbegebiet Würzburg-Ost“, turn left onto Nürnberger Straße, follow Nürnberger Straße and turn left onto Friedrich-Bergius-Ring. BioMed-Zentrum is to your left at Friedrich-Bergius-Ring 15. GILYOS is situated to your left, entrance B.

Internships

GILYOS is also happy to offer short-term internships for students with a background in biology, chemistry and other natural sciences. The most important prerequisite is a natural motivation for scientific work!

Pharmacy Students

Throughout the year, GILYOS offers qualified pharmacy students the opportunity of a 6 month internship according to the licensure for pharmacists in Germany (§ 4 Approbationsordnung). After the successful completion of this internship, GILYOS may offer an employment opportunity to pursue a PhD (see above).

Graduate Students

Are you about to become a licensed pharmacist in Germany? Pharmaceutical sciences was your favorite course at the University? Are you desperate to deepen your expertise in this area of interest by doing a PhD?

GILYOS offers well-qualified students (passed 2nd federal exam with 2.0 or better) the unique opportunity to conduct a PhD in its facility under direct supervision of PD Dr. Henning Gieseler. Lots of interesting research topics guaranteed!
